Authors Purpose
Why was this book written
In my opinion this George Orwell wrote this book to expose the truth behind socialism. As well as to show his opinion on it, which he clearly thinks quite negatively about. In 1984 all of the common people are kept in the dark about what the government is doing and what is happening around the word. They are only told what the government wants them to know. This is to antagonize the government and show how evil it was just like Orwell was intending. Also the ending of the story the protagonist is eventually defeated which forces the reader to realize that if a government reaches this point of control where everything is monitored and those who were even suspected of being against the government are either killed or forced to like the way things are.

Two of his most popular books being Animal Farm and 1984 both of which are considered to be his thoughts on the recently formed Soviet Union. As a result both of these works received the Prometheus Award for being great dystopian works(George Orwellen.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Orwell#Literary_career_and_legacy).
